Pyrenees 2018 - Day 4 Afternoon:
Road side big water class III to IV. Sure why not. How fast can 10 km or so go? Very fast indeed. This run was a fun low stress way to end the day. I really don't have a whole lot to say. The rapids come with good frequency, and all were clean down the middle. There was one rapid that was longer and wider than the others, we passed some boats of folks who were scouting it. I thought it was fine though and none of the features were holes.
The hazard to keep in mind on this run comes about 3 km above Sort in the form of a weir. It is obvious thanks to the structure on river right. Portage on river left as this forms a nasty hole that would be hard to get through if you dropped in. Below, we ran down to the campsite along the river where we had pitched camp the previous night.
For reference, we had 44 cumecs when we ran it. High. But it also didn't feel flooded.

Km 1.9:
- First Rapid (III to IV-). The first good size rapid happens on a left turn and had a small wave hole at our flow.
- Gorge Starts (III to IV-). The river enters a gorge and the rapids pick up. They were all read and run and at our flow a bit flooded. So no rapid by rapid detail on this one.
- Landslide (IV-). Probably the biggest rapid on the run, this rapid happens as the river bends right at the base of a landslide. There was a group scouting the rapid as we boated on by. We just ran right of center and read and run it. It was long and a few obvious holes were dodged.
Boogie (III). The river continues with nice rapids throughout the length of the run. But they are all easier below here.
- Weir (U). A weir is portaged on the left. It is easy to spot due to the cement structure on the right.
Boogie (II). Mellow boogie from here to take-out.
Take-out: We used the Campground in Sort as the take-out for this run. It is just 1.2 km upriver of town on C-13. "Camping Noguera Pallaresa SA."
Put-in: In the town of Lavorsi, you can park in the parking area on the south side (river left) tributary, directly upstream of the confluence near the entrance of "Camping Riberies."
