This creek can actually be run from the top, but I do not believe it is very good from all I have heard. However, right near the bottom at the confluence with the North Chickamauga Creek, there is the most perfectly easy 15 foot waterfall. An excellent beginners falls. So, I thought I would have a write-up of it more than just a footnote in the North Chick write-up.
Mi 0.0:
- Bedtime for Lothar (IV). This falls is so perfect because it has a narrow entrance making hitting the line easy, which then leads to a fan feature at just so of an angle that sets you up to nail your angle. The only concern in my mind is overboofing and landing flat. But, with a relatively easy walk back to the top on river left, you can practice getting your 45's perfect. Note, the rapid immediately below has only been run a few times... most hit the trail on the right and hike back down to the confluence.
Trail: Just a short ways above Cylclops this creek enters on the left. It is at a riverwide hole that you usually run far right. Get out on the upstream side of the creek and go 20 feet into the bush to pop out on a nice trail that heads up the creek. Climb a short ways and you will see the falls. Once you get near the same distance upstream of it, drop down the side of the hill to just above the falls.
