Colorado Road Trip 2021: Day 14 Afternoon
The end of the roadtrip. My mom and Aster were waiting at the park for us on our final day that saw us kayak 15 miles of Clear Creek from Kermits, into Black Rock, through the Lower, and finally into Town. What we didn't realize was that this playpark is huge and she was a half mile away! It goes on for a half-mile! A PLAY PARK! Wow! There are all sorts of features for playboating and training and goes at a wide range of flows. Just an absolute gem of a whitewater park. The nicest I have been to.
Mi 0.0:
- Start (II to III-). The features up top come at you quick and can have some power. They taper off after about 0.3 miles and become less frequent.
- End (II+). The last two features are a short ways downstream after a calmer section, just above the Washington Ave bridge.
Access: In the city of Golden, take Washington Ave south off of CO-58. Go south for 0.3 miles before turning right onto 10th St just before Washington crosses the river. Follow this for up to 0.3 miles to Lions Park, or park near the library further down the whitewater park.
